Pakistan vs West Indies a one sided match

Pakistan crushed West Indies by 10 wickets, West Indies team is weaker than the Ireland team. I would like to see Ireland in place of West Indies. Ireland would have given good competition to Pakistan, but West Indies dint showed their play, they played like a minnow team. I think time ends for Gayle .... he did nothing for WI in this world cup. Sammy is not eligible for Captancy. Sarwan and Chandrapaul tried to minimize the damage but couldnt do much. I had much expectation on Kerion pollard, but he opened the gates to discussions about his place in ODI. I think he only good for T-20's. This match should open WI eyes. Hope they will learn something from this match. Purely one sided match. WI disappointed their fans. bye bye WI ..

The quarter-final scenarios

With Pakistan's win in the last match of Group A, the standings in that group are clear: Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand, in that order. Only one meaningful match remains in Group B, between India and West Indies in Chennai. Here's a look at the quarter-final line-ups depending on who wins that game.   Scenario 1: If India beat West Indies India will take second place, behind South Africa, on nine points, while England will be third and West Indies fourth. West Indies will finish with the same points as Bangladesh, but they are so far ahead on net run-rate that Bangladesh cannot catch up even if West Indies lose by a huge margin. The quarter-finals: Pakistan v West Indies - Mirpur Australia v India - Ahmedabad (March 24) New Zealand v South Africa - Mirpur Sri Lanka v England - Colombo (March 26)   Scenario 2: If West Indies beat India In this case West Indies will jump to second place, behind South Africa, pushing India and England to third

Supermoon may cause natural disasters next week

Image
On March 19 th  2011, the moon will make its closest approach to Earth in almost 20 years, possibly triggering earthquakes,  volcanic eruptions  and other disasters. The phenomenon, called lunar perigee or Supermoon, happens when the moon reaches its absolute closest point to Earth. On March 19, the  natural satellite  will be only 221,567 miles away from our planet. There were Supermoons in 1955, 1974, 1992 and 2005, and these years had their share of  extreme weather conditions , too. Although there are scientific laws that say the moon affects the Earth, it's still ambiguous whether the lunar perigee and  natural disasters  is coincidence or not. British freelance weatherman  John Kettley  was quoted as saying "A moon can't cause a geological event like an earthquake, but it will cause a difference to the tide. If that combines with certain weather conditions, then that could cause a few problems for coastal areas." Neo Earth Close Approach Tables By NASA W

Scientists solve mystery of disappearing sunspots

Image
(Reuters) - A trio of top solar scientists said on Wednesday they had solved the mystery behind the disappearance of sunspots, a phenomenon that has stumped astrophysicists worldwide for more than two centuries. The research, which will be published on Thursday in the journal Nature, shows that unusually weak magnetic fields on the sun paired with reduced solar activity cause sunspots to disappear. Sunspots appear to the human eye as dark spots on the sun, some as wide as 49,000 miles, according to NASA. They are caused by intense magnetic activity, or storms, on the sun's surface, which is plasma. Sunspots often emit particles into space which are known as solar flares. Sunspots went missing from 2008 to 2010 in a rare occurrence that first was reported in 1810. Although it is well documented that the sun goes through regular 11-year cycles of high and low solar activity, sunspots are not prone to disappear for an extended period, the researchers said. Cong veteran Arjun Singh dead

Hours after he was dropped from the Congress Working Committee and made a permanent invitee in a party reshuffle, veteran leader Arjun Singh, who had a long and chequered career as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and as Union Minister, died here today. He was 81. Singh passed away at the AIIMS where he had been admitted for over a month and was being treated for medical complications. SC notices to Advani, Joshi and others in Babri case

The Supreme Court today asked BJP leaders L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray and others to spell out their stands on a CBI plea for restoration of charges of hatching a criminal conspiracy to demolish the Babri Masjid in 1992 against them. A bench of justices V S Sirpurkar and T S Thakur sought to know their stands while issuing notices to them and asking them to file their replies within four weeks. The apex court issued the notices after Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium, appearing for the CBI, questioned the legality of the  Allahabad  High Court''s order last May, upholding a special CBI judge''s decision to quash the charges of criminal conspiracy against the leaders. The CBI has moved the apex court challenging the High Court''s May 20, 2010 order, dismissing the CBI plea for revival of criminal conspiracy charges against top BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders, which also included Ashok Singhal, Giriraj Kishore, Vinay Katiyar

Startup Gives Twitter a Private Messaging Option

Image
Name:   Umagram Quick Pitch:  Umagram lets you tweet private message links to people who don’t follow you. Genius Idea:  We’ve all done the Twitter direct message dance. We look up people we’re trying to get in touch with on Google and find their Twitter handles. We send a message asking them to DM us. After they follows us, we send back another DM with our e-mail address in it. They e-mail us. We reply, and are thus FINALLY able to convey the information we wanted to. Umagram aims to help its users skip this tedious process and instead cut straight to the private, unrestricted conversation. Here’s how it works: A user logs in with a Twitter account. To initiate a conversation, the user composes a tweet that mentions anyone with whom that person wants to participate in the conversation. Umagram posts the tweet with a unique link to the conversation on its messaging platform. Because users need to sign in to Umagram with a specific Twitter identity, only people named in the initial twe
